Amy Pond Nail Polish- Series 6

So, because I have no life really like Amy Pond, I decided that an important detail in any Amy cosplay is the nail polish. Which led me to going through my dvds of Series 6 to get screencaps of the various colors of her nail polish.

Let me tell you, it's not as easy as it sounds. Even I thought I'd have this little project done in an hour or two tops. It was more tedious than I thought because it took a while to go through each of the episodes and skim through to wait for a good angle or shot of Amy's nails. The other reason it took me a while is because I kept getting distracted and taking regular caps of shots that I liked. But, I'm all done now and you guys get to enjoy the fruits of my labor! I apologize in advance; some of the shots aren't that good quality and I enlarged them to make it a little easier to see her nails.

Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon
This is Amy's nail color from "The Impossible Astronaut" and "Day of the Moon". This is from the start of "The Impossible Astronaut" and I couldn't find a decent shot of her nails in "Day of the Moon" so you'll just have to trust me she doesn't change her nail color between episodes. I'd say it's a sort of light gold color. I have yet to find a suitable color that I'm pleased enough with to buy.

Curse of the Black Spot
In "The Curse of the Black Spot" I'd say Amy's got a light purple color. This is the best shot I could get because the episode in general is so dark and all the other shots wouldn't have given an accurate color. I'm pleased to say that this color I was able to find pretty easily and it's one of my favorite colors to use now. Plus, it gets seen again in other episodes.

The Doctor's Wife
This bright red that Amy wears in "The Doctor's Wife" is also in my collection now and makes a number of reappearances in the rest of the series.

The Rebel Flesh/ The Almost People
This screencap was the hardest to get. For some reason Amy is doing so much running around in "The Rebel Flesh" and "The Almost People" that there are literally no good shots of her hands or nails. In case you couldn't tell by the rubbish quality. However, the point is Amy's wearing the same red nail polish she has in "The Doctor's Wife".

A Good Man Goes to War
"A Good Man Goes to War" was the easiest to grab a picture from. And also the most boring 'color' she has in this series. I'm not even sure this counts as a color. Looks to me like she's just wearing a clear nail polish, or else Amy has the most perfect, beautiful shiny nails in the universe.

Which is actually probably true. I mean, the rest of her is pretty flawless...

Let's Kill Hitler
As you know, in "Let's Kill Hitler" we get a flashback of a young Amy scolding Mels for stealing a bus. In the flashback she's wearing the color seen all the way on the right. To me it looks like the same shade of purple from "The Curse of the Black Spot". The other two images come from the color Amy's wearing when they're running around Berlin chasing after River. I have a green similar to it, but I'm on the hunt for a better one since the color I have is a little too light, and she has a fairly dark solid green.

Night Terrors
As promised, the purple from "The Curse of the Black Spot" makes a reappearance as seen here in "Night Terrors". Have I mentioned I really like this color?

The Girl Who Waited
One of the easier screencaps to get. In "The Girl Who Waited" I'd say Amy is wearing the same light gold nail polish she is in "The Impossible Astronaut" and "Day of the Moon".

The God Complex
I have to say this is my favorite color that Amy wears in the entire series. Why? Because it's blue! And I like blue. She wears this color in "The God Complex" and I need to find this one. I have plenty of different shades of blue nail polish, but mine are all shiny and it doesn't look like Amy's blue is shiny at all.

The Wedding of River Song
Another episode where it was hard to get good screencaps, so this is the best I could do. During the alternate universe thing of most of the episode Amy is seen with that dark color on the left. I say it looks like black nail polish to me. But it could also possibly be a very dark purple. In the image on the left she's either wearing that light gold from the beginning of the season, or back to just a clear nail polish like in "A Good Man Goes to War".

And there you have my compilation of Amy Pond's nail polish colors for the entirety of Series 6! You'll notice that the only episode I'm missing is "Closing Time" and well, obviously since she is only seen from a distance and only for a few seconds there was no way to be sure what colors her nails were.

If you have suggestions for brands/colors of nail polish then be sure to leave them in the comments! Or if you have any questions or comments on the colors she's wearing I'd also love to hear it. Maybe I'll do a post with the kinds of nail polish I've already purchased.

As soon as I get back into the city where I left my Series 5 dvds I'll start going through those episodes and will provide a list of her nail polish colors in another post. Nail polish is the one 'girly' thing that I like. I don't wear make up and as I've mentioned I'm not a fan of skirts. No matter how often I wear one now in my attempts to be Amy-like. But nail polish is cool.

I know this has been a long post (longer than I imagined) but as a bonus here's a cool site that I discovered during my internet roaming. It's an Etsy store called NerdLacquer and it has custom created nail polish colors named for various scifi shows. There are some colors 'inspired' by Firefly, Doctor Who and even Monty Python. It's fun to look at if nothing else!

  2. In the Wedding of River Song, I think her nail polish is more of a really deep deep red/burgundy color. The closest one I can see is "swing velvet" by essie: http://www.essie.com/nail-colors/

Ever since I started watching Amy Pond in Doctor Who (I love her so much I can't even) I've noticed that she wears the purple you spotted more than anything, particularly in series 5 too.

Best of luck with your nail polish endeavors!
